Raw wool market report / Reportáž z Vlněné burzy

On Saturday 17th September, there was a first Czech raw wool market. It was organised by Association of goat and sheep breeders at their beautiful grounds at Zlobice near Brno.
As it was a first year, the attendance was not big, but I believe that all those who came left happy and with big bags of new material.
There were about 10 sellers of raw wool from sheep bread in the Czech republic and also sellers of products made of wool – felters, knitters, spinners ...

Soňa from Ofčí statek Brníčko brought linen, drop spindles and their delicious sheep cheese.

Soňa z Ofčího statku Brníčko přivezla lněnou metráž, vřetánka a jejich výborný ovčí sýr.

These grils had shetland wool and lovely felted garments. The shoes are great.
Děvčata prodávala šetlandskou vlnu a krásné plstěné věci. Ty botky jsou super.

Hana Plšková udělala krátkou přednášku o mohéru - o chovu koz, jejich stříhání, třídění srsti atd. Spousta zajímavých informací.

Additional programme  / Doplňkový program

In the afternoon there was a sheep shearing show. Eva Uxová is the experienced shearer and she also shared many interesting information. Now I know that the sheep are not cold, when they are sheared before winter :)

We have also learned how the wool is sorted after shearing.
Dozvěděli jsme se i o třídění ostříhaného rouna.

And this is what I brought home. Did I go crazy? I cannot wait to work with them,

From left - Zwartble sheep, East Friesian sheep, Jurassic sheep, White carded one is Merinolandschaf and the locks at the front are Romney.

This sheep skin shepard coat is just awesome and very heavy.
Tenhle ovčí ovčácký kožíšek je super a pěkně těžký.

It was the harvest full moon. / A taky byl ten den sklizňový úplněk.

A lot of new items is being uploaded in the shop - check them out.
Spousta novinek se právě objevuje v e-shopu. Mrkněte tam.

  7. I love that it's all local wool. I hate the wool industrialization that is happening in (mostly) Australia and the UK...
